This life I lead... gifts of thanksgiving #18-#24

This life I lead is beautiful ...

Daily I am amazed by the beautiful and bountiful gifts that my Savior bestows upon me in this life I lead.

"Thanksgiving is inherent to a true salvation experience; thanksgiving is necessary to live the well, whole, fullest life." ~Ann Voskamp One Thousand Gifts
My heart flutters within me as I type this quote. I long for the fullest life and I know the One who has promised to give it to me. Could it be that I have been missing out on it because of my ungrateful heart? Could it be that I have not been living out my salvation completely because of the ungratefulness that clouds my longing to live in gratitude. Forgive me Lord...

I thank God for his grace that he so lavishly pours upon my heart and like a balm my heart is healed and gratitude begins to grow and take root...

may I continue to water it with the words of thanksgiving that I sometimes have to force out of my lips-one day they will freely flow...
the joy that exists because my heart chooses a life of thanksgiving will give me strength and daily I will
"...sacrifice thank offerings, preparing the way so that God will show me his salvation"-Psalm 50:23

Colossians 4 praying leads to joyful thanksgiving!

Colossians 4:2-6

"2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

Prayer-it's a word that is used often but it is an action that eludes most of us. It is a mystery that sometimes seems unreachable. I see in this verse that it is not be unreachable it is to be a way of life! it is a choice that we must make to devote ourselves to prayer! It is essential to being thankful! When we pray we talk to God therefore in order to give thanks to God we must pray!
Right now I feel like a light bulb just went off in my head-"ding"! It is not a chore it is a choice that leads us to joyful thanksgiving! Making the most of every opportunity will come easily to us when we have prayed. In order for our conversations to be full of grace we must put on "outfit 12" from Colossians 3:12 and the best way to do that is by prayer!

Prayer is the basis to live a live worthy of Christ! Help me Lord to pray without ceasing through out the day as I work, clean, walk and breath let me be joyfully thankful in prayer before your throne!

Colossians 3 Outfit 12

Colossians 3:12-17

"12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

I love this chapter! In college I printed out verse 12 and put it up in my closet so that every morning as I was getting dressed I could remember that outfit 12 would make my day! I need to do that again! what a beautiful way of saying you can be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and patient. This a choice that you make everyday! "Clothe yourself" it's an action! you must choose to put on these virtues and overall don't forget love-"which binds them together in perfect peace" Love is the base-if you are lacking love it will be very hard to put on these virtues much less express them. Let's examine ourselves everyday and choose to cloth ourselves the way Jesus did! So that whether we are at work, at church or just out shopping we can do all things as for the Lord.

I love  that he reminds again to be thankful, to sing to God with gratitude in our hearts, giving thanks!

Colossians 2 overflowing with thankfulness

Colossians 2:6-7

"6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

Ok, so I am kind of glad I got behind on my posts because this being thanksgiving week I am so excited to learn about giving thanks. I found beautiful riches in these chapters when I read them last week but this week thankfulness and joy are jumping out at me from the pages!

are we overflowing with thankfulness always? are the words out of our mouths filled with thanksgiving or are they laced with complaint? I pray that the Lord will help me to be thankful everyday, positive and to not complain-for I have nothing to complain about!! He has given me more than I ever imagined I should alway overflow with joyful thanksgiving!

Colossians 1 giving joyful thanks

Colossians 1:10-14

10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

I love that as we studied these books the same themes ran through them. The Lord uses repetition to help us completely grasp those principles he wants us to live by. I know I need to repeat things over and over to memorize them. So I am so glad the Lord helps me with that through his word.

Again we can live a life worthy of the Lord as we grow in his knowledge we will bear fruit! It is not by our strength but by his that we can do this "being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience." Wow! because he completely " has our back" we should give joyful thanks always! He rescued us from darkness into his kingdom of light!

Thank you Lord once more! This Thanksgiving week help us remember all that you have done for us and all that you have given us out of the goodness of your heart!
